RG Pharmaceutica gives a basic guide,
the specialist provides a series of recommendations that can be considered the
"10 golden rules" of kidney health, endorsed by the International
Society of Nephrology.
1 - Staying fit and active. Exercise helps reduce blood pressure and, therefore, reduces the risk of chronic kidney disease.
2 - Maintain regularly control your blood sugar in the blood. About half of people with diabetes develop some degree of renal damage, so it is important that people with diabetes make regular checks kidney function.
3 - Controlling blood pressure. Hypertension is a common cause of kidney damage and more if associated with other risk factors such as dyslipidemia or diabetes.
4 - Following a healthy diet rich in vegetables and maintaining a healthy weight; this also helps control diabetes and other heart diseases that accompany kidney damage.
5 - Moderate consumption of salt.
6 - Maintain adequate fluid intake. Historically says 1½ to 2 liters of water a day, although there is no exact value: This value depends on the outside temperature, physical activity, pregnancy, lactation. Increasing water intake helps eliminate toxic sodium by the kidneys, which reduces significantly the risk of developing kidney disease.
7 - Do not smoke. Smoking alters the renal vasculature and strongly enhances the other risk factors such as dyslipidemia, hypertension and diabetes in generating renal failure, in addition to increasing the risk of kidney cancer.
8 - Not use anti-inflammatory drugs for long periods of time. It is known renal damage called NSAIDs.
9 - Conduct a blood and urine control if they have the following factors "high risk":
- Diabetes
- Arterial hypertension
- Obesity
- Family members suffering from kidney disease.
10 - As a general rule, remember that everything that affects the heart affects the kidneys.
And do not forget the unspoken rule in everything that jeopardizes the health and well-being: go to the doctor when in doubt.
